Mercedes-AMG factory driver Daniel Juncadella will join Alegra Motorsports for next weekend’s IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season-ending Motul Petit Le Mans.
The 30-year-old Spaniard will team up with Michael De Quesada and Daniel Morad in the team’s No. 28 Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo, which will be carrying a new livery with sponsorship from Huski Chocolate.
It will mark Juncadella’s second WeatherTech Championship start after taking part in the 2018 Rolex 24 at Daytona in a Jackie Chan DC Racing-entered Oreca 07 Gibson in the Prototype class.
Juncadella competed primarily in DTM and Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup this year for the German manufacturer.
Alegra is set for back-to-back endurance events with father-and-son Carlos and Michael De Quesada slated to compete this weekend in the Race World Offshore World Championships in Key West, Fla. in a 4,000 horsepower race boat.
“There are some similarities between these two styles of racing, but more differences,” said Carlos de Quesada.
“It says a lot about the skill and commitment of the Alegra Team that we’re able to mobilize for two totally different events in different corners of the country.
“Regardless of how we [fare], it’s sure to be an exciting weekend.”
Petit Le Mans will mark the team’s second consecutive WeatherTech Championship start after missing several races in the summer due to sponsorship issues.
