Kenton Koch and Korthoff Motorsports have ‘mutually agreed’ to part ways, effective immediately, ending a multi-year driving partnership in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.
Koch, who first joined the the Herb Korthoff-owned Mercedes-AMG customer squad in 2023 in a partial schedule, stepped up to a season-long drive last year, highlighted by GTD class victory in the Michelin GT Challenge at Virginia International Raceway.
While initially slated to run a full season again this year alongside new-for-2025 co-driver Seth Lucas, the team withdrew from the Chevrolet Grand Prix at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park following its class podium finish in last month’s Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen.
No official word has been given on Korthoff’s future, which had joined forces with Competition Motors, Lucas’ father’s organization, this year.
“Today marks a sad day, but also a day of new beginnings,” Koch wrote on social media. “Team Korthoff and I have decided to part ways mutually. There’s absolutely no hard feelings and the circumstances that led to the team and I’s decision was really no one’s fault.
“Watkins was a perfect example of the men and women that make the team phenomenal. Grit and determination with precision is what got us that podium and couldn’t be more proud to have been a small part of it.
“I’m thankful to have been a part of this journey with them. Without it, I’d not be where I am today and wish the team the best of luck in their future. What treat it has been and I look forward to seeing those guys in the paddock.”
Koch took part in the CTMP race at the wheel of the No. 021 Triarsi Competizione Ferrari 296 GT3, finishing seventh in class.
