Both the Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo and Porsche 911 GT3 R have been hit with weight increases ahead of the IMSA Fastlane Sportscar Weekend at Road America.
Issued in the latest Balance of Performance adjustment by the sanctioning body, the Mercedes will run 20 kg heavier and the Porsche up by 10 kg following the most recent round at Lime Rock Park.
It comes following a recent hot streak by Pfaff Motorsports, which has won three of the last four races in GTD Pro.
While Mercedes has yet to visit victory lane in GTD, Winward Racing has come close on a number of occasions, with a fuel pump failure costing Russell Ward and Philip Ellis the class win at Lime Rock, as well as a drive-time infringement that stripped the team of top class honors in the Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen.
No other changes have been made among the GTD Pro and GTD classes, which run to an identical BoP table.
The only other change for Road America comes in DPi, which sees the Acura ARX-05 get a 10 kg increase in minimum weight, bringing the car up to 940 kg.
It compares to the Cadillac DPi-V.R, which remains at 945 kg.
This change is believed to have been made as part of IMSA’s track-specific BoP system for the top class that was introduced at the start of this season.
The ORECA-based Acura DPi has traditionally excelled around smooth, high-speed tracks such as Road America, although Action Express Racing’s Cadillac came out on top in last year’s race at the Wisconsin circuit.
