Corvette Racing’s Tommy Milner took the brand-new Chevrolet Corvette C8.R on a pair of demo laps this morning prior to the start of the Motul Petit Le Mans at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta.

It marked the first public on-track appearance for the mid-engined GTE car on the day of the final race for the Corvette C7.R.

“We had a big crowd at our tent as it was starting up for the demo lap, and I think they were more excited to hear that start up than to watch the race warm-up! It’s a super-cool day,” Milner said.

“It’s a big race today, but we’re excited to show the fans and let everyone see and hear what the Corvette C8.R is about.

“It’s an honor for me to drive the car for the first time in the ceremonial laps for the fans. I had the same opportunity to do that with the C7.R and to have that chance again with the C8.R… I feel very lucky.

“I can honestly say it’s been split 50-50 on people excited to see the last race for C7.R and people who are excited to see and hear the C8.R.

“It was nice to give them a preview before we sent off the C7.R in the race.”

Technical details of the car were revealed on Thursday, including confirmation of a normally aspirated 5.5-liter V8 engine.
