Five GT cars have received power increases ahead of this weekend’s Chevrolet Grand Prix at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, as part of the latest round of Balance of Performance adjustments.
Confirmed by IMSA late last week, half of the eligible models in GTD Pro/GTD will have additional power, following a series of weight reductions handed out prior to last month’s Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen.
All power-related adjustments are in the range of 6-8 horsepower, with the Type-992 Porsche 911 GT3 R receiving the biggest break and the Chevrolet Corvette C8.R GTD getting the smallest.
Other cars to have received power increases are the Acura NSX GT3 Evo22, McLaren 720S GT3 Evo and Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo.
The six GT models have also received correlated increases in fuel capacity as well, either with 1 or 2 liters of additional capacity.
The GTP class, meanwhile, has again seen tweaks to all four the LMDh manufacturers, with minor weight and energy reductions across the board.
The Acura ARX-06, BMW M Hybrid V8 and Cadillac V-Series.R will all be 7 kgs lighter than at Watkins Glen, with the Porsche 963 getting a 6 kg weight break.
Additionally, the Acura and BMW will have 3 MJ of less stint energy, compared to a 2 MJ reduction for the Cadillac and Porsche.
