Dylan Murry will return to IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship competition after a one-year absence, joining AF Corse’s LMP2 squad for the upcoming Battle on the Bricks at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
Murry will pilot the Italian squad’s No. 88 Oreca 07 Gibson for the six-hour Michelin Endurance Cup round, teaming up with Luis Perez Companc and Nicklas Nielsen to replace Lilou Wadoux.
Wadoux is unable to compete at Indianapolis as a result of clashing commitments with SUPER GT’s Sugo 300km, which takes place on the same weekend.
“I am honored and thankful to get the opportunity with AF Corse,” said Murry.
“This team has a successful history, and it shows a lot about the team culture. Winning is a priority for them, so it makes for a good fit. I’m excited to be a part of this terrific team,”
“To be with Nicklas and Luis will be a great privilege. Nicklas’s resume speaks for itself – he is a Ferrari Factory Driver and was part of the overall Le Mans winning team this year.
“I have done a couple of tests with them, and I believe there is potential for a good result. I thank everyone that made this possible. Endurance racing is my everything and I am looking forward to being able to be with AF Corse, a very disciplined and dedicated team.
“Over the past few months, I have been training like a mad man and I am more prepared for a race than I ever have been.”
Murry’s last WeatherTech Championship outing came as part of a one-off LMP3 start with Jr III Motorsports at Road America last year.
Prior to that, he formed part of Racing Team Nederland’s Endurance Cup LMP2 effort, where he finished on the podium in the Rolex 24 at Daytona, Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring and Sahlen’s Six Hours of the Glen.
