No. 95 Turner BMW Moves to GTD Pro for Endurance Cup

Turner Motorsport has moved its No. 95 BMW M4 GT3 to the GTD Pro class for the Rolex 24 at Daytona and remaining IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup rounds following the addition of Bruno Spengler to the team’s lineup for the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season opener.

The BMW M Motorsport factory driver will join fellow works pilot John Edwards plus full season drivers Bill Auberlen and Chandler Hull in the McIntosh-sponsored entry.

It’s understood Edwards will join Auberlen and Hull for the three other Endurance Cup rounds at Sebring, Watkins Glen and Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta, with the car entered in the GTD class for the WeatherTech Sprint Cup races.

The move will now result in a nine-car GTD Pro field at Daytona, represented by eight different manufacturers.

As previously revealed on the release of the Rolex 24 entry list, Turner’s No. 96 BMW will be driven by full season drivers Robby Foley and Patrick Gallagher, with Michael Dinan joining the duo for the Endurance Cup season and Jens Klingmann completing the lineup for Daytona.

“This year our GTD program will run like a well-oiled, well-tuned machine,” said team owner Will Turner.

“Look at that lineup. I am proud to have Liqui Moly and McIntosh on board in 2023. We are ready. We are prepared. It will be a whirlwind, but there’s no place like Daytona.”

The two WeatherTech Championship entries are part of a six-car overall squad for Daytona, with two BMW M4 GT4s apiece entered in Michelin Pilot Challenge and the new VP Racing SportsCar Challenge as well.

Robert Megennis and Cameron Lawrence will team up in the No. 95 BMW for the Pilot Challenge season, with Foley and Vinny Barletta in the No. 96 entry. Both cars will be new-generation G82-type M4 GT4s.

In VP Challenge, Francis Selldorff and Barletta will take the wheel of F82-type BMWs in the single-driver sprint race series.

“I believe there will be a Turner BMW on track in almost every session,” said Turner.

“We will race in GTD Pro and GTD in the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, two cars in the Michelin Pilot Challenge, and two more in the new VP Racing SportsCar Challenge.”
