Bryan Sellers believes that DXDT Racing is well-prepared to give the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R its Fanatec GT World Challenge America powered by AWS debut but is entering this weekend at Sebring International Raceway with realistic expectations.

Sellers and co-driver Scott Smithson will pilot the No. 08 Corvette in the pair of 90-minute races on the Florida airfield circuit, following months of work for the David Askew-owned team in its transformation into a GM customer racing operation.

DXDT, which will expand into a two-car Corvette effort beginning with the next Fanatec GT America round at Circuit of The Americas, completed a successful two-day test at Sebring last month that came as its first on-track opportunity with the Pratt Miller-built GT3 machine.

“We were all really pleased and impressed with the initial rollout,” Sellers told Sportscar365. “Automatically that leaves you in a place of confidence coming into the weekend.

“Obviously we have a lot to do, things that show up on race weekends that don’t show up on tests like pit speed limiters, driver changes, the list goes on and on.

“We have a lot of work to sort out in these next couple of sessions before the races actually begin, but from a car-perspective, I think we couldn’t be happier or couldn’t be more impressed with the team at Pratt Miller and GM.

“Our goal this weekend will be to make sure we execute to the best of our ability. I know that sounds a little bit mundane but it’s the truth.

“If we operate everything the right way, we should be able to do a top-five and if things go our way, we should be able to put the car on the podium, and that would be the goal.

“If that opportunity comes up, [we have to make sure] it’s not something we do to take this out of that place.”

Sellers added that there’s been a level of excitement within the North Carolina-based team, in anticipation for this weekend’s debut, which will mark not only the car’s first outing in Fanatec GT America competition but in any SRO Motorsports Group-run series worldwide.

“It’s funny,” he said. “You walk in and there’s this level of happiness you see on everyone’s face, not because our relationships or partnerships prior to this were bad but because you have this new, shiny toy that everyone’s excited to see get started.

“I think we’re all just ready for this first session to kick off and get underway and get it started because then some of this excitement just turns into reality.

“The guys at the shop have been preparing for months and months to be ready for this moment.

“I think everyone’s just ready for the time to be here.”
