Nunez Leads Mazda 1-2 in Morning Warmup

Tristan Nunez turned in the fastest lap of Saturday’s morning warmup session ahead of the 23rd running of Motul Petit Le Mans.

Nunez put the No. 77 Mazda RT24-P at the top of the charts in the final five minutes, topping Ryan Hunter-Reay in the sister No. 55 machine by 0.689 seconds.

The top LMP2 runner Job van Uitert in the No. 8 Tower Motorsport by Starworks Oreca 07 Gibson checked in with the third fastest overall time, ahead of the DPi entries of Tristan Vautier and Scott Dixon.

Matt Campbell’s No. 911 Porsche 911 RSR led the way in GT Le Mans ahead of Augusto Farfus and Colton Herta in the two BMW Team RLL cars.

The GT Daytona pole-sitting No. 86 Acura NSX GT3 Evo set the pace again with Mario Farnbacher at the controls, followed by the sister car of Alvaro Parente and Townsend Bell’s No. 12 Lexus RC F GT3 from AIM Vasser Sullivan.

All 31 entered cars turned at least an installation lap in the 20-minute session that ran without major incident.

The green flag for Motul Petit Le Mans is scheduled for 12:40 p.m. local time Saturday afternoon.

RESULTS: Warmup
