United Autosports has enlisted NTT IndyCar Series stars Pato O’Ward and Felix Rosenqvist to its lineup for the Rolex 24 at Daytona.
The two drivers will each pilot one of the Anglo-American squad’s Oreca 07 Gibsons, with O’Ward joining Ben Keating, Ben Hanley and Nico Pino aboard the No. 2 car.
Rosenqvist, meanwhile, will share the cockpit of the No. 22 machine with Daniel Goldburg, Peugeot FIA World Endurance Championship ace Paul di Resta and a to-be-confirmed fourth driver.
Both drivers have experience competing at Daytona in prototype machinery in previous years, with O’Ward already having claimed two class wins in two separate categories.
His first came during a successful 2016 campaign in the Prototype Challenge class with Performance Tech Motorsports, where a Daytona victory alongside James French, Kyle Masson and Nicholas Boulle was the starting gun on a streak of seven consecutive class wins.
In 2022, he joined fellow IndyCar stars Colton Herta and Devlin DeFrancesco at the wheel of a DragonSpeed Oreca in the LMP2 class and won again.
“We have been trying to get Pato in a United Autosports car for a while now,” said United Autosports CEO Richard Dean.
“After a few false starts, finally we have our man. Pato brings experience as a Daytona race winner and is just plain fast in everything he drives!
“I would like to thank everyone at the Arrow McLaren IndyCar Team for helping make this happen.”
Rosenqvist, who was O’Ward’s IndyCar teammate at Arrow McLaren from 2021 to 2023 before a planned move to Meyer Shank Racing for next year, has made two starts in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season opener.
He raced an Oreca FLM09 with Starworks Motorsport in 2016 and shared the cockpit of a top-class Jackie Chan DCR JOTA entry with Robin Frijns, Daniel Juncadella and Lance Stroll in 2018.
Other notable experience for the Swedish driver outside of single-seater racing includes an appearance at the 2017 24 Hours of Le Mans as well as race starts in DTM, Intercontinental GT Challenge powered by Pirelli, ADAC GT Masters and Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS.
“I’m super excited to be back in sportscar racing,” said Rosenqvist.
“It’s been five years since I did a sportscar race. I used to do it a lot back in the day. But it’s been put on pause recently because I’ve been focusing on my IndyCar career.
“It’s something I love doing and to be racing with United Autosports is really cool. This team has won a lot of LMP2 races before, so they’re coming in with the expectation to do well – which matches my goals!”
