Sportscar365 is asking drivers from around the world what they’re doing during the COVID-19 pandemic and how they’re coping with the racing downtime.
AIM Vasser Sullivan Lexus ace Jack Hawksworth (Twitter/Instagram) features in this edition.
Where are you sitting out the COVID-19 crisis?
I am currently back in the U.K and staying at my apartment in Bradford, which is in the county of West Yorkshire and where I grew up.
Are you doing any iRacing and if so what has that experience been like? Have you done it before?
I recently just got an iRacing membership and competed in my first race at the IMSA Pro Series Invitational last week at Mid Ohio! Since then I have been practicing a lot and upgrading my equipment.
I think it is a great way to keep people engaged with the sport and it is also some fun competition for the teams and drivers during this period.
I will continue to compete in the IMSA pro invitationals going forward and will also be competing in the Isolation eRacing Series, which is due to start today and will be streamed live on BT Sport in the UK, bringing together a whole host of drivers from different series! It should be fun!
What are you doing to maintain your fitness level?
At the moment gyms are closed so most, if not all of my training has been outdoors mainly compromising of running and mountain biking and some daily stretching. I am hoping that the motocross and kart tracks will be able to open up soon so that I can get back to some proper training!
What is your daily driver?
A Lexus RC300 hybrid in ruby red! Lovely car and it always makes the trip home from the airport a little more enjoyable after a long weekend away!
Do you have any favorite ‘chores’ to do around the house?
Recent chores have mainly revolved around putting together new parts for my simulator! Outside of that my roommate has an obsession with plants and has been growing strawberries on our balcony!
What’s on your current playlist?
I am listening to a bit of everything at the moment. Whilst typing this, Atlas – Bicep is playing!
What other form of motorsports would you like to try your hand in?
I am huge motocross and supercross fan. I ride regularly at home. I have a 2020 CRF 450r and would love to transition to racing motocross at some level once my car racing career comes to an end. Moto is the hardest sport in the world in my opinion and I love the fact there is so much to learn and go at every time I ride.
What’s the one thing you are most looking forward to the first day you return to a race track?
More than anything I am looking forward to getting back into the routine of competing, working on myself, working with the AIM VASSER SULLIVAN team and continuing to improve every aspect of what we do in order to fight for wins with our Lexus RC F GT3 cars.
The competition is what I miss, it gives me a focus and drive that gets me up in the morning. Walking into the paddock and soaking in the atmosphere on that first day back will be a great feeling.
