Risi Competizione will reprise the driver lineup that finished second in last year’s Rolex 24 at Daytona for its next GTD Pro appearance in the event with the new Ferrari 296 GT3.
Reigning FIA World Endurance GT champions Alessandro Pier Guidi and James Calado will team up with Michelin Endurance Cup champions Davide Rigon and Daniel Serra for Risi’s entry into the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season-opener this month.
They will share the No. 62 Ferrari 296 GT3 in the debut of the Italian manufacturer’s latest GT racing model, which replaces the 488 GT3.
Houston-based Risi Competizione finished runner-up to Pfaff Motorsports in the inaugural Daytona GTD Pro race last January, running a Ferrari 488 GT3 Evo 2020.
It went on to seal the Endurance Cup with Serra and Rigon, who took second in the Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen before finishing first on the road at Motul Petit Le Mans, only for a drive time infraction to cost them the race victory — but not the title.
Pier Guidi was part of the Daytona lineup only, while Calado returned for the Petit finale.
The reigning WEC GTE-Pro champions have now been confirmed in two high-profile lineups today after Ferrari named them as part of its six-man factory Hypercar crew.
Risi only mentioned Daytona in its Tuesday driver lineup announcement, although team owner Giuseppe Risi told Sportscar365 in September that the team planned to do “the same sort of program” that it ran last year.
