Eric Lux will return to DragonSpeed’s LMP2 lineup for the Sahlen’s Six Hours of the Glen, while Corvette factory driver Nico Varrone joins the team for the first time.
Lux and Varrone will team up with Rasmus Lindh for the upcoming six-hour IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship round, which also serves as the third round of the Michelin Endurance Cup.
Varrone is set for his first WeatherTech Championship appearance since the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring presented by Cadillac in March, having gone absent from the grid ever since his GTD program with AWA came to an abrupt end.
The Argentinean racer will make back-to-back appearances at the wheel of the Oreca 07 Gibson this month, as he will also compete with AF Corse in next week’s 24 Hours of Le Mans.
“I’m really looking forward to racing at Watkins Glen with the benefit of DragonSpeed’s experience and team spirit for my first IMSA race in LMP2,” Varrone said.
“This track is one of my favorites and it should be even better in a P2 car! Eric and Rasmus give us a strong lineup so for sure we can have a go at fighting for the class win.”
Lux, meanwhile, rejoins the team after a previous appearance in the Rolex 24 at Daytona. He was replaced by Henrik Hedman as the team’s mandatory Bronze-rated driver at Sebring.
“It’s a pleasure to rejoin DragonSpeed, especially at my awesome home track of Watkins Glen, and to bring along a new sponsor in the form of FlyExclusive Jet Club as well,” Lux said.
“Nico and Rasmus are both spectacular young talents with a good head for endurance racing, and I can’t wait to team up with them. It would be an amazing feeling to win this race again!”
