Robert Wickens will continue at the wheel of DXDT Racing’s Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R for the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship sprint races, beginning with next month’s Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach.

Confirmed on Tuesday in an IMSA-hosted Zoom media session, Wickens will join full season driver Mason Filippi for the GTD races at Long Beach, WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, Virginia International Raceway and Indianapolis Motor Speedeway.

The only change in his calendar this year is running the Battle on the Bricks at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, as the race becomes a two-hour and 40-minute round amid Road America’s promotion to a six-hour Michelin Endurance Cup event.

In his five starts last year, Wickens scored a best result of fourth in class at CTMP.

“I can’t wait to get back in the Corvette Z06 GT3.R in a couple weeks,” said Wickens. “Long Beach is always such a special event, and we showed a lot of potential last year.

“I hope we can build on that experience and be even stronger.

“The mission is to continue to gain valuable experience with the end goal of being able to compete in a full season in 2027, and ultimately contest for a championship.

“I won’t stop until I have exhausted every avenue, and I know my partners Bosch and GM will do everything they can to help me achieve my goals and ambitions.”

While initially targeting a step up to full season competition, the 37-year-old Canadian will undertake his second consecutive partial WeatherTech Championship calendar.

Wickens and Filippi, who were teammates at Bryan Herta Autosport in Michelin Pilot Challenge from 2022-24, have not been co-drivers on a regular basis until now, although the pairing teamed up in last year’s Nürburgring 24 at the wheel of a Hyundai Elantra N TCR that finished second in class.

“Long Beach is going to be an exciting event for DXDT Racing,” said program manager Bryan Sellers. “We’re thrilled to welcome Robert back and debut our new Wealthspire livery.

“This event is especially meaningful for us, as it’s where we began this journey with Rob last year. He’s a once-in-a-lifetime talent, and we truly believe we’re building something special here at DXDT.

“We’re excited to carry that momentum through this season, with a clear focus on the future. The pairing of Rob and Mason gives us a lineup capable of contending for wins at every track.”
