Formal Fastest Again in Final Friday Practice at Laguna

Danny Formal once again led the way in the final practice session ahead of this weekend’s pair of Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America races at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca.

Formal’s 1:23.417 lap was enough to put the No. 1 Wayne Taylor Racing with Andretti Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo EVO2 he shares with Ryan Norman at the top of the time sheets, four-tenths faster than Patrick Liddy’s solo No. 72 Forte Racing entry.

Flying Lizard Motorsports’ Marc Miller set the Pro-Am pace, winding up third quickest overall in the No. 41 entry he co-drives with Paul Nemschoff.

Scott Huffaker and Giano Taurino rounded out the top-five in Pro class machinery.

Meanwhile, the Am class saw Anthony McIntosh at the top of the time sheets for WTRAndretti, with Ray Shahi’s No. 65 Forte Lamborghini fastest in LB Cup.

Running was cut short by a pair of red flags, with the first being shown about halfway through the 45-minute session when Ken Dobson’s No. 27 Am class Forte Lamborghini went off track and impacted the barriers at Turn 9.

Less than ten minutes remained in the session by the time Dobson’s car was retrieved and the field went green again.

Six cars were subsequently penalized for leaving their pit boxes early after the stoppage.

The second red came in final minutes after Robert Soroka’s No. 25 Alliance Racing machine went off course at Turn 6, ending second practice prematurely.

Earlier in the session, the No. 7 ANSA Motorsports LB Cup entry of Alexandre Lima was handed a drive-through penalty for speeding in pit lane shortly before being shown the black flag.

Qualifying is slated for 11:05 a.m. PDT (2:05 p.m. EDT) on Saturday, followed by Race 1 at 5:40 p.m. PDT (8:40 p.m. EDT). Live coverage will be available via Peacock and IMSA.tv.
