Danny Formal set the pace in the opening practice session of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America weekend at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca in the No. 1 Wayne Taylor Racing with Andretti Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo EVO2 he shares with Ryan Norman.

Formal’s fastest lap of 1:23.584 placed him a narrow 0.090 seconds ahead of Jake Walker’s No. 77 Forty7 Motorsports entry. Patrick Liddy completed the top-three, just 0.270 seconds off the pace, after jumping up to the Pro class solo for this weekend’s pair of races.

This weekend will see a series record 41-car grid tackle the 2.238 mile Monterey circuit, should all entered cars start Saturday’s Race 1.

Fan-favorite “Sparklefarts” paced the Pro-Am class, with Andy Lee fourth fastest overall in the No. 14 Flying Lizard Motorsports Lamborghini he co-pilots with Slade Stewart.

Lee finished the 45-minute session just over one-tenth faster than stablemate Jeroen Bleekemolen, who rounded out the top-five with teammate Tim Pappas.

Glen McGee jumped to the top of the Am class times late in the session in his No. 69 WTRAndretti Lamborghini.

Meanwhile, the No. 57 One Motorsports machine of Nick Groat topped the time sheets in LB Cup.

First practice ran entirely green, with only a few off course excursions and the and the No. 55 Forty7 Lamborghini of Lane Vacala and Keawn Tandon pulling behind the wall only momentarily disrupting an otherwise smooth session.

Practice 2 begins at 3:05 p.m. PDT (6:05 p.m. EDT) with live overage on Peacock and IMSA.tv.
