Patrick Liddy paced the 36-car field in the opening Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America practice of the weekend at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Liddy reeled off a 1:25.734 second lap time mid-way through the 45-minute session in his Pro-Am class No. 72 Forte Racing Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo EVO2, edging out Danny Formal by just 0.102 seconds.

No fewer than three Pro-Am cars found themselves in the overall top-five by the end of session, including Forty7 Motorsports stablemates Keawn Tandon and AJ Muss, who recorded the third and fourth fastest times respectively, despite Muss bringing out the red flag in the final minutes.

Meanwhile, Topp Racing’s Cole Kleck was fastest of the 11 Am-class competitors and fifth quickest overall in the No. 17 Lamborghini he shares with Al Morey.

Jon Hirshberg set the quickest time in LB Cup aboard his solo-driven No. 86 machine.

The points-leading No. 88 TR3 Racing Pro class entry of Giano Taurino temporarily ground to a halt at Turn 4 after turning only two laps, while William Edwards’s Am class No. 25 Alliance Racing entry stopped off course at Turn 5 near the end of the session.

The session effectively ended under red flag conditions after Muss’ No. 66 Forty7 Lamborghini also went off at Turn 5 in the final minutes. While the green flag would be technically shown again, the checkered flag followed a mere 3 seconds later.

Practice 2 is scheduled for 3:20 p.m. EDT this afternoon at The Brickyard.

RESULTS: Practice 1
