The European Le Mans Series has revealed full details of its record 47-car entry list for the season opener in Barcelona, which is due to take place on April 12.
Although much of the category’s lineup had already been confirmed, including the announcement earlier on Wednesday that ex-Formula 1 racer Jack Doohan would pilot Nielsen Racing’s No. 24 Oreca 07 Gibson, there were a few other drivers who were revealed upon the entry list’s publication.
Also among the 23-strong LMP2 ranks, Cem Bolukbasi and Jens Reno Moller have been listed alongside the No. 7 Vector Sport entry with the third driver to be confirmed.
Jacob Abel had previously been slated to drive that car but now Bolukbasi, who was fifth with Nielsen Racing in last year’s table, and three-time 24 Hours of Le Mans starter Moller are to share the second of the Vector Orecas.
The only other LMP2 gap was the final driver in the Pro-Am No. 88 Proton Competition entry and that has been filled by Rene Binder, who continues at the team for a third season. He joins the already announced father-and-son pairing of Horst Felix Felbermayr and Horst Felbermayr Jr.
Among the LMGT3 division, there were also two cars yet to have their full lineup confirmed that have now done so: the No. 55 Spirit of Race Ferrari 296 GT3 Evo and the No. 69 Team Qatar by Iron Lynx Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo.
Matt Griffin will join regular team-mate Duncan Cameron and David Perel in the Ferrari in an unchanged roster after the trio finished sixth in class last term.
Then already-announced Abdulla Al-Khelaifi will be partnered in the Mercedes-AMG by two drivers both making their ELMS debuts: 2016 Nürburgring 24 winner Adam Christodoulou and GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS competitor Julian Hanses.
Prior to the opening four-hour round of the season, a two-day Prologue will be held at the Spanish circuit between April 6-7.
