Cole Loftsgard claimed his fifth pole of the Mustang Challenge North America season, outpacing title rival Devin Anderson by nearly a half-second to start tomorrow’s opening race of the weekend at Virginia International Raceway on top.
The Round 3 Racing driver reeled off a chart-topping 1:56.664 lap time in his No. 42 Ford Mustang Dark Horse R to edge out the TechSport Racing driver by 0.481 seconds.
Will Lucas qualified third in his No. 34 Wheelhouse Motorsports Mustang, with Sandy Satullo, who paced practice earlier in the day, only able to muster the fourth quickest time.
Flying Lion Motorsports’ Ethan Low completed the top-five.
It was a double pole day for Round 3, with Oleg Gorshkov taking top qualifying honors in Dark Horse Legends.
Gorshkov was more than seven-tenths clear of the No. 8 Wheelhouse entry of Tom Tait, who ended up second in class.
The No. 9 Paley Motorsport with AAG Racing entry of Chris Clarke was third quickest in DHL.
The first race of the weekend gets underway Saturday at 9:25 a.m. EST, with Race 2 scheduled for Sunday at 9:45 a.m. EST. Both 45-minute contests will be streamed live on Peacock, as well as on both Ford Racing and IMSA’s YouTube channels.
