Middleton, McAleer Headline Three-Car Prestige/WTR Effort

Prestige Performance Racing with Wayne Taylor Racing has confirmed its driver lineup for the Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America Championship season.

The seven-time series champions will field five drivers to compete in three different classes in this weekend’s season-opener at Road America.

WTR enters its fifth season in the Super Trofeo competition. The Indianapolis-based team was crowned overall champions at the 2017 World Finals and finished the 2018 and 2019 season in the top-three in the Pro, Am and Pro-Am classes.

Coming off Lamborghini Super Trofeo European championship where he placed third overall, Stuart Middleton takes over the helm of the No. 1 Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo in the Pro class alongside sports car veteran Stevan McAleer.

McAleer, the 2019 Pirelli GT4 America East Pro-Am champion and IMSA Prototype Challenge runner-up will also split his time competing in the IPC and GT4 America championships.

“I’m really thankful to the team to be given this opportunity to race the No.1 Prestige Performance Lamborghini Super Trofeo in the North American Championship,” Middelton said.

“I’ve got a full year of experience in the Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo in Europe and notched up eight and I can’t wait to get going on some of the fantastic circuits on the calendar. It should be a great season.”

McAleer added: “The last few years I have been working with some of the past WTR drivers at select events coaching and co-driving, but it will be a very different ball game this year as I get a crack at going after the overall championship with Stuart.”

Ashton Harrison and Andrea Amici, meanwhie, return to WTR as co-drivers in the Pro-Am class piloting the No. 25 Harrison Contracting Lamborghini.

In 2019, Harrison secured six pole positions, set two track records, ran the fastest laps at eight of 12 LB Cup races, and led the most laps of any other driver in and out of the LB Cup class.

At the Lamborghini season finale weekend in Jerez, Harrison made history by becoming the first female racer to win a World Final race.

Amici, who raced in 2019 with Sandy Mitchell in the No. 1 Prestige Performance Pro class effort, helped bring the team three wins, nine podiums and three poles while finishing second in the World Final.

Sydney McKee joins the championship winning organization for the first time and will drive the No. 87 FaDa Racing Lamborghini Super Trofeo in the LB Cup category.

McKee, 2018 GT4 Class Trophy East champion, made her professional debut earlier this year racing in the Michelin Pilot Challenge season-opener at Daytona International Speedway in January.
