Robert Noaker continued his fine run of form this season, claiming pole position for the first Mustang Challenge race of the weekend at the Charlotte Motor Speedway Roval to begin to put a cap on a potentially undefeated qualifying run in points-paying races this season.

The reigning and current Dark Horse class champion immediately put his No. 13 Robert Noaker Racing Ford Mustang Dark Horse R at the top of the times, recording his Race 1 pole-sitting 1:28.393 lap on his third of seven attempts around the 2.28-mile road course.

Should Noaker’s second-quickest lap time from qualifying (a 1:28.486) remain unbeaten in tomorrow’s Race 1, he will officially earn the pole position for Race 2 and solidify a dominant season of qualifying, having then claimed pole position for every points-paying race of the season on U.S. soil.

As was the case in Practice 2, RNR put three cars at the top of the time sheets, with Mustang Cup star Will Lucas qualifying second in the No. 13 Mustang ahead of stablemate Sandy Satullo, who came home third in the No. 7 entry.

Marcos Vento put McCumbee McAleer Racing fourth-quickest in the 15-minute session, with Devin Anderson set to start Race 1 on the inside of the third row to round out the top five, just over one second off of Noaker’s pace.

The Dark Horse Legends pole position went the way of Alex Bachoura, who was sixth fastest overall in his No. 33 Spark Performance machine.

Title rival Zachry Lee qualified second in DHL and 11th overall for MMR, 0.612 seconds off Bachoura’s best lap.

All 20 drivers in the field recorded qualifying laps in the quarter-of-an-hour session, which ran entirely green.

During the session, however, Satullo, Lucas and Joseph Dederichs each had one of their laps invalidated for cutting the track.

Both races of the weekend will take place on Saturday, with Race 1 scheduled for 10:10 a.m. EST ahead of the evening’s Race 2. Live coverage for both events can be found on Peacock as well as IMSA and Ford Performance’s YouTube channels.
