Yardley Snatches Pole Away from Hartog

Ryan Yardley snatched the pole away from Loek Hartog for this afternoon’s Porsche Carrera Cup North America round at Watkins Glen International, putting his Topp Racing Performance Porsche 911 GT3 Cup race car atop the time sheets.

Yardley reeled off a 1:48.441 in the closing minutes of Friday’s qualifying session to edge out the Pro class points leader by 0.091 seconds.

It marked Yardley’s first career Carrera Cup overall pole position.

Hartog is set to line up second in his No. 24 Kellymoss Porsche, followed by the No. 98 JDX Racing Porsche of Alex Sedgwick.

Baby Bull Racing’s Michael Cooper and the No. 9 JDX entry of Zachary Vanier completed the top-five overall and in class, with Dan Clarke sixth in the leading MDK Motorsports entry.

Marco Cirone took top qualifying honors in Pro-Am in his No. 84 ACI Motorsports Porsche, thanks to a 1:49.751 lap time that put him 12th overall in the field.

Masters class pole honors went to Scott Blind in the No. 45 Rukus Racing Porsche.

The first race of the weekend gets underway at 4:20 p.m. EDT this afternoon, with live coverage on PorscheCarreraCup.us, Peacock and IMSA.tv.
