The second IMSA VP Racing SportsCar Challenge race of the weekend at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park has been canceled due to “logistical challenges” associated with a revised schedule that was prompted by severe weather.
The 45-minute race was originally scheduled for a 11:10 a.m. EST start, but the track was under a full-stop due to severe weather in the area, which ran for more than 90 minutes.
A revised schedule was originally released that would have placed the start time of the race at 5:10 p.m., following the conclusion of the Chevrolet Grand Prix WeatherTech SportsCar Championship race, although that plan has since been scrapped.
“Due to the schedule delay brought about by inclement weather and international logistics challenges associated with a revised schedule, CTMP VPRC Race 2 has been canceled,” a statement from IMSA read.
“More information will be provided at a later time.”
IMSA said it will consider the possibility of rescheduling Race 2 during an upcoming VP Challenge event weekend. Further information on a revised date, if applicable, will be communicated once details are finalized.
The WeatherTech Championship race is expected to start on time at 2:05 p.m. EST, with live coverage on USA Network and Peacock.
