JP Motorsport will be incorporated into the Zakspeed Group as part of a restructuring for the German squad that will see Patryk Krupinski become a joint shareholder with Peter and Philipp Zakowski.
Krupinski, founder of the JP Motorsport squad, is set to become responsible for Business Relations as part of the new venture.
Ongoing customer racing efforts are to continue under the JP Motorsport banner, making use of McLaren and Mercedes-AMG GT3 and GT4 machinery used previously.
“Being part of such a renowned name fills me with pride, but it’s also a responsibility,” said Krupinski.
“Zakspeed, like few others, represents success in German motorsport. Together, in our new facilities, we have enormous potential, and I am confident that we can achieve great success.”
Peter Zakowski, meanwhile, will oversee technical operations at Zakspeed Motorsport GmbH, which will move into JP Motorsport’s facilities in the German town of Erkelenz, located roughly 90 minutes from the Nürburgring.
“Our new motorsport facility in Erkelenz, built to the latest standards, both technically and logistically, is forward-looking,” he said.
“The infrastructure created by JP Motorsport in Erkelenz is outstanding. We will continue our pursuit of sporting success, as we have done in previous years.
“The separation of the Classic division from the Motorsport division is a logical conclusion based on our experience in recent years.”
Philipp, meanwhile, rejoins the family business to take on a new role overseeing sales, marketing and sponsorship management in the motorsport division, while also acting as CEO for the new established Zakspeed Classic department focused on manufacturing historic racing cars.
He was previously at the helm of ADAC GT Masters squad ZVO Racing alongside Joerg van Ommen. The team entered a pair of Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evos, with Fabian Schiller and Jules Gounon notably picking up several race wins.
