Algarve Pro Racing got its Asian Le Mans Series campaign off to a strong start, with the Portuguese squad claiming pole for Sunday’s Three Hours of Sepang.

James Winslow put the No. 25 Ligier JS P2 Nissan on the top, thanks to a best lap of 1:58.773 in qualifying Saturday in Malaysia.

Winslow edged out Fuji race winner Shinji Nakano in the No. 8 Race Performance Oreca 03R Judd by a considerable 0.961 seconds, with the No. 99 Eurasia Motorsport Oreca Nissan completing the top-three.

DC Racing scored its second consecutive pole in the LMP3 class, while Clearwater Racing also repeated from its success in Japan by taking top class honors in the GT class with its McLaren 650S GT3.

Quickest in the CN class was the No. 69 Atlantic Racing Team Wolf GB08, which qualified seventh overall.

A series-high 16 cars are set to take the green for tomorrow’s second round of the season.
