Reigning FIA World Endurance GTE champion Alessandro Pier Guidi and Brazilian ace Ozz Negri will take part in the 2018/19 Asian Le Mans Series, driving a Spirit of Race Ferrari 488 GT3 alongside Francesco Piovanetti.
The program was announced on Monday ahead of this weekend’s season-opening round in Shanghai.
It marks a continuation of a partnership between U.S.-based Negri and Piovanetti, who had a three-race IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship program in an AF Corse-run Squadra Corse Garage Italia-entered Ferrari this year.
“I’m very happy to join Spirit of Race for the Asian Le Mans Series, this is a new championship for me and some new tracks to learn so it is really an exciting new program for us,” said Negri.
“The Ferrari is really incredible to drive and very good in race conditions.
“Having Alessandro as part of this line-up is great with his knowledge of the car and the team.
“We’ve been doing all the training and sim work that we can to be ready, and hopefully we can have a good start to the season with a result in China.”
Both Negri and Pier Guidi have Rolex 24 at Daytona victories, while Piovanetti has impressed in his transition from Ferrari Challenge competition.
“I am very pleased to have Ozz and Francesco join the team for the Asian Le Mans season,” said team owner Amato Ferrari. “They have shown promise in their races together in IMSA and I am sure will be a great combination along with Alessandro Pier Guidi.
“Ozz has a lot of experience with several different kinds of cars from GT’s to Prototypes as well as being a coach so we are optimistic about this campaign in Asia.”
