The Asian Le Mans Series received a considerable boost this week, with confirmation that nearly a dozen cars from the Super GT championship will join the ACO-backed series for this month’s Three Hours of Fuji.
Eleven cars from the popular GT300 class will compete in a separate SGT class, which will award points for their season-long championship.
“We are delighted to be including Super GT cars into our Fuji event,” said Asian LMS Managing Director Mark Thomas. “The quality and prestige of their cars and races are well known around the world and they will help us elevate and promote Asian LMS even further in the international endurance racing arena.”
With the addition of GT300 cars, it’s expected there will be nearly 20 entries for Fuji, including the pair of Morgan LMP2 cars from OAK Racing and KCMG, which fought for overall honors in last month’s inaugural Three Hours of Inje in Korea.
The Three Hours of Fuji is scheduled for Sept. 22.
