Filipe Albuquerque will return to the European Le Mans Series this year after joining Nielsen Racing, joining Ferdinand Habsburg in the British outfit’s No. 24 entry.
The Portuguese driver last contested the ELMS full-time back in 2020, when he won the LMP2 title for United Autosports together with Phil Hanson, but has made a cameo appearance in each of the past two seasons for the same team.
Now it has been confirmed that Albuquerque will contest the six-round calendar for Nielsen, a campaign he will combine with his existing commitments for Wayne Taylor Racing in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.
He joins Habsburg in pursuing a second ELMS crown aboard the No. 24 Oreca 07 Gibson, the Austrian having been part of the title-winning Prema Racing lineup in 2022.
“I am super happy to join Nielsen Racing, the team is really motivated and they are putting a lot of effort to be the benchmark in 2025,” commented Albuquerque.
“Joining Ferdinand Habsburg, he won the ELMS in past as well, so I think that is enough to make us a strong candidate to the tittle. I love all the tracks of the ELMS calendar, so I just can’t wait to get it going.”
Cem Bolukbasi had previously been listed against the No. 24 Nielsen Racing entry together with Habsburg when the ELMS entry list was first revealed in December.
Nielsen’s Pro-Am class No. 27 entry will be driven by Antony Wells, Fabio Scherer and one more driver yet to be announced.
