The new Ave-Riley AR-2 will not make its race debut in next weekend’s European Le Mans Series round at the Red Bull Ring as originally planned, with the American LMP3 car set for further testing and development.
The car recently arrived at Murphy Prototype’s shop in the UK but will now undergo testing in Europe, according to Tony Ave.
“We will be testing at Red Bull Ring next week but not running the event,” Ave told Sportscar365.
“We had a couple slight missteps on some homologated pieces, and rather than rush a short-term solution, Bill [Riley] and I decided to spend the time to do it as we wanted.
“Sales in the U.S. are ahead of where I thought we would be, so I feel less pressure to rush the debut.”
Ave and fellow American Doug Peterson took part in the opening ELMS round of the season at Silverstone in a rented Ginetta LMP3, in anticipation of switching to the AR-2 for the remainder of the season.
While having rented the entry out to other drivers at Imola, Murphy does not have a LMP3 car entered for the Austrian round next weekend.
