A total of 20 cars are set for this weekend’s new-look GT World Challenge America powered by AWS, which launches at Sonoma Raceway with its new three-hour headline race format.
The entry list, comprised of eight GT3 brands, is the largest field in six years and features notable additions and returns to SRO America competition.
Five manufacturers are set to face off in the Pro class, with entries from Dollahite Racing (Ford), McCann Racing (Porsche), AF Corse (Ferrari), Turner Motorsport (BMW) and JMF Motorsports (Mercedes-AMG).
After contesting the Am class last year, Dollahite steps up to the top class with an all-new lineup for its Mustang GT3 EVO in Cameron Lawrence and Alex Sedgwick, who moves over from a breakout season with RS1 last year.
McCann’s return to SRO America will see Porsche Carrera Cup North America front-runners Michael McCann Jr. and Zachary Vanier team up in their Porsche 911 GT3 R Evo.
Frederik Schandorff and Matias Perez Companc, meanwhile, will be at the wheel of AF Corse’s Ferrari 296 GT3 Evo, with 2025 Pro-Am champions Robby Foley and Justin Rothberg stepping up to Pro in their Turner Motorsport BMW M4 GT3 EVO.
Title contenders from last year, JMF returns with an unchanged lineup of Michai Stephens and Mikael Grenier in its Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo.
A record 14 Pro-Am class entries are set to do battle this weekend, including seven Porsches entered between Kellymoss, Wright Motorsports, GMG Racing and RS1.
2023 Carrera Cup North America champion Riley Dickinson will make his full season GT3 debut in the No. 13 Kellymoss entry with Todd Parriott, while 2024 Carrera Cup champion Loek Hartog (No. 88 Kellymoss) and 2025 champion Ryan Yardley (No. 31 Wright) will spearhead their respective entries.
Acura IMSA GTP factory driver Colin Braun will make his full season GTWC America return in Kellymoss’ third Porsche, alongside Michael Clark, while Porsche Sprint Challenge North America competitor Therese Lahlouh will team up with Thomas Merrill in Wright’s second entry.
RS1, which contested the Pro class last year, moves back to Pro-Am with Jan Heylen and Juan Martinez as drivers, with the race-winning pair of Tom Sargent and Kyle Washington returning to GMG for a third season as co-drivers.
Two additional BMWs will be on the grid, with entries from Riley for Slade Stewart and Andy Lee and Random Vandals Racing with drivers Derek DeBoer and defending Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America champion Hampus Ericsson, the bother of NTT IndyCar Series star Marcus.
JMF will expand to field a second Mercedes-AMG for the Pro-Am pairing of Lorcan Hanafin and Jason Daskalos, while TR3 Racing makes its series return with Will Bamber and Brayton Williams.
While DXDT Racing and sister squad Regulator Racing will not be on the grid, the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R will still be represented with Chouset Povoledo Racing’s entry for Ross Chouest and Aaron Povoledo.
Lamborghini will return to full-time SRO America competition with a Huracan GT3 EVO2 entered by Chicago Performance and Tuning Co. for Mads Siljehaug and Nicolai Elghanayan, which has been moved to Pro-Am since the initial entry list release due to Elghanayan’s FIA driver rating derogation to Bronze*.
Mike Johnson’s Archangel Motorsports will continue fielding a McLaren 720S GT3 Evo for Todd Coleman and Aaron Telitz, while Jay Schreibman and Ozz Negri are set to defend their Am class title in an AF Corse Ferrari, currently as the only entry in the class.
Track action at the Northern California circuit kicks off on Wednesday with a test day, with official practice getting underway Friday afternoon. Two additional sessions are on tap for Saturday prior to qualifying.
The season-opening three-hour feature race is set for Sunday at 1:45 p.m. PST/4:45 p.m. EST, with live coverage on SRO’s GT World YouTube channel and on Twitch, with FS1 set to air highlights next weekend.
