Gianmaria Bruni will race a Ferrari for the first time in almost a decade as he joins the JMW Motorsport team for this year’s European Le Mans Series.

Bruni will share JMW’s No. 66 Ferrari 296 GT3 with American pair Jason Hart and Scott Noble, reuniting with the British team that he last drove for in 2009 when the category was known simply as the Le Mans Series.

It will also mark the Italian’s first season at the wheel of a Ferrari since he last raced for the Maranello marque as a factory driver in 2016, prior to switching to Porsche.

Bruni will combine the six-round ELMS schedule, which kicks off in April in Barcelona, with his IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship commitments for the JDC-Miller MotorSports Porsche team.

“I’m super happy,” commented Bruni, who last raced in the ELMS in 2023 in a Proton Competition LMP2 car.

“For me it was my first motor racing family. I raced with JMW Motorsport in my early sportscar days, I grew up with them, so I have a lot of history with Jim [McWhirter, team principal], Valerie and with all the team.

“I’m really looking forward to getting back with them all, and I’m very happy that we get this opportunity to get back together in the ELMS, something we have done together, and won together in the past. I’m looking forward to working with my teammates.

“I can’t wait to jump in the GT car again, it’s been a little while. It’s amazing we get this opportunity to work together again.”

Hart and Noble joined JMW for the final two rounds of the 2024 ELMS season alongside Ben Tuck, scoring a best finish of sixth at Mugello.

Team principal McWhirter said: “We are thrilled to welcome Scott and Jason back to the team. Both drivers performed brilliantly at the final two rounds of the last season. They’re both really strong competitors.

“It is great to have the continuity of returning drivers, building on last season and continuing the development of the car.

“We’re also super excited to welcome Gimmi back to the team. With his speed and such a wealth of experience, he will be a very strong addition to the team.”

JMW missed out on a spot on the 24 Hours of Le Mans entry list, instead being named as the fifth reserve with Hart and Noble listed as drivers for the effort.
