Duqueine Team has signed Neel Jani to its LMP2 lineup for the European Le Mans Series season.
The Swiss driver, an overall winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2016, will team up with Rene Binder and Nico Pino aboard the team’s lone Oreca 07 Gibson.
Jani hasn’t competed in ELMS previously but achieved several podium finishes with Rebellion Racing’s LMP1 squad in the Le Mans Series before it was rebranded in 2012.
The 39-year-old most recently took overall victory at the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring with Chip Ganassi Racing, where he stepped in as a late replacement for Kevin Magnussen.
Before that, he formed part of Porsche’s factory GTE-Pro squad in the FIA World Endurance Championship and worked with the German manufacturer in ABB FIA Formula E World Championship as a reserve driver, but has since left that position.
While co-driver Binder is an LMP2 regular and has competed frequently in ELMS since 2019, Pino is set to make his LMP2 debut.
The Chilean racer spent the last two seasons racing LMP3 machinery in ELMS, Michelin Le Mans Cup, Asian Le Mans Series and the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.
Last year, he took three class victories with Inter Europol Competition in ELMS, but narrowly lost out on the championship due to a retirement in the Portimao finale.
He recently finished second in class with Sean Creech Motorsport at the Rolex 24 at Daytona.
The ELMS season kicks off with the 4 Hours of Barcelona on April 23.
