United Autosports will scale back its European Le Mans Series program to two cars for the remainder of the season as the No. 23 Oreca 07 Gibson has been withdrawn due to an ongoing injury for Bronze-rated driver Jim McGuire.

McGuire shared the LMP2 Pro-Am entered machine with Guy Smith and Paul di Resta, but has been on the sidelines since a crash in a test session prior to last month’s 4 Hours of Aragon.

The American driver sat out the event and was replaced at Aragon by Garnet Patterson with the initial hopes of returning to the grid at the upcoming Spa-Francorchamps round.

However, it was revealed that McGuire suffered multiple broken vertebrae in the incident, putting him out of action for the remainder of the campaign.

McGuire has struggled with back problems before, notably missing last year’s Sahlen’s Six Hours of the Glen to undergo surgery.

The Anglo-American squad’s other two entries will continue for the rest of the season.

This includes the No. 21 LMP2 Pro-Am car for Andy Meyrick, Daniel Schneider and Nelson Piquet Jr. as well as the No. 22 Oreca driven by Marino Sato, Phil Hanson and Oliver Jarvis.
