The European Le Mans Series will visit Mugello for the first time in 2024 as part of a six-race calendar.

The Tuscany circuit makes its debut on the schedule at the expense of the 4 Hours of Aragon, which was held for the first time this season.

Additionally, Imola also returns after it went absent from the series this year due to delayed track upgrades.

The 2024 campaign will start at Barcelona on April 14 before moving on to Paul Ricard, which has been moved forward to a mid-May fixture.

The 4 Hours of Imola then takes place in July after the 24 Hours of Le Mans, followed by Spa-Francorchamps in August and Mugello in September.

The August date for Spa is a change compared to previous years, as it has occupied the September spot on the calendar since it became a regular fixture in 2016.

It only hosted the series in August in 2020, when the calendar was shortened due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The addition of Mugello to the 2024 European Le Mans Series calendar is very welcome, and the Italian circuit joins an ever-growing list of top European circuits that have hosted an ELMS race,” said Le Mans Endurance Management CEO Frederic Lequien.

“Each venue offers a unique challenge for our teams and drivers while providing exciting racing for our many fans to enjoy, either at the circuit or watching at home.

“We look forward to welcoming all our competitors, partners, fans, and the media in 2024.”

Mugello currently hosts the Italian GT Championship and Hankook 24H Series, while in the past it welcomed both the DTM and FIA GT Championship and appeared regularly on the calendar for the World Sportscar Championship during the Group C era of the 1970s and 80s.

“As a feeder series, the European Le Mans Series is a major component of the Endurance pyramid,” said ACO president Pierre Fillon.

“The already high standard of racing continues to improve and the 2024 season features some of Europe’s most esteemed circuits.

“Besides the prestige of competing in an elite championship, ELMS teams have the added motivation of winning a slot on the grid at the 2025 24 Hours of Le Mans.”

The Michelin Le Mans Cup will form part of the support bill for the ELMS at all rounds except Imola, while the annual Road to Le Mans event is held on June 13-15.

2024 European Le Mans Series Schedule:

April 14 – Barcelona
May 5 – Paul Ricard
