Antonio Felix da Costa will replace Pastor Maldonado in Jota Sport’s lineup for the upcoming FIA World Endurance Championship season, it has been confirmed.
The ex-BMW factory driver is set to join Roberto Gonzalez and Anthony Davidson at the wheel of the team’s Oreca 07 Gibson beginning with next weekend’s season-opening 4 Hours of Silverstone.
The late drive comes after the Venezuelan was unable to secure a “balance agreement” with the team for the 2019/20 season.
Da Costa, however, is unlikely to contest the full season due to his ABB FIA Formula E Championship commitments, which is understood to take priority.
While not yet confirmed, the 27-year-old is expected to join DS Techeetah as a replacement to Andre Lotterer, with da Costa having recently severed ties with BMW after a six-year run with the German manufacturer, most recently in Formula E.
There are currently two clashes between the WEC and Formula E schedules, with the races in Bahrain and Sebring affected.
However, a finalized calendar for the all-electric open-wheel series has yet to be released.
