After a day dominated by Audi, Toyota jumped to the top of the time charts in the third and final Free Practice prior to qualifying for tomorrow’s FIA WEC Six Hours of Fuji.
Anthony Davidson led the way in the 60-minute session, reeling off a 1:27.033 lap time in the championship-leading No. 8 Toyota TS040 Hybrid.
Davidson’s time was 0.267 seconds quicker than the No. 20 Porsche 919 Hybrid of Mark Webber, who recorded a 1:27.300 time within the final 10 minutes of the session.
The No. 14 Porsche was third quickest, followed by the No. 7 Toyota, resulting in the pair of Audis to fifth and sixth quickest, respectively.
The No. 13 Rebellion R-One Toyota was quickest in LMP1-L with a 1:31.005 lap time, while G-Drive Racing continued to show the way in LMP2 with its Ligier JS P2 Nissan.
GTE-Pro and GTE-Am was once again led by Aston Martin Racing, but this time the Craft-Bamboo-backed No. 99 Aston Martin Vantage atop the time charts.
The 60-minute session again saw the use of a Full Course Yellow, due to the No. 12 Rebellion R-One Toyota, which briefly stopped on track. It continued before returning to the pits.
Qualifying is on tap for 1:20 p.m. local time.
