Kevin Estre will make a cameo appearance in the FIA World Endurance Championship next month, subbing for Patrick Long in the No. 88 Abu Dhabi Proton Racing Porsche 911 RSR at the Six Hours of Circuit of The Americas.
Estre will take Long’s spot in the GTE-Am entry, due to the American Porsche factory driver’s Pirelli World Challenge commitments at Sonoma Raceway that same weekend.
Long currently leads the PWC GT Championship with three races to go.
It will mark the third different pro-graded driver in the Abu Dhabi-backed entry this year, as Klaus Bachler joined full-season drivers David Heinemeier Hansson and Khaled Al Quabasi for the season-opener at Silverstone, also due to a clash with Long’s PWC commitments.
There will be at least one other driver change for the COTA round, with Fernando Rees listed to drive the No. 97 Aston Martin Vantage GTE with Darren Turner, due to Richie Stanaway’s Australian Supercars commitments.
There are currently 32 cars provisionally entered for COTA, with no sign of the Riley Motorsports Dodge Viper GTS-R or Scuderia Corsa Ferrari 458 Italia GT3, which had both considered entries at various stages.
Bill Riley confirmed to Sportscar365 they will not be running the Viper GTS-R in Austin.
