Genesis Magma Racing has expanded its Trajectory Program to include two Korean drivers as it gears up for its maiden FIA World Endurance Championship season.
The Hyundai-owned outfit revealed on Monday it will be supporting Koreans Michael Shin and Kyuho Lee in their single-seater endeavors this year, the pair joining official reserve driver Jamie Chadwick on what is now a three-strong roster of talent.
Both Shin, 21, and Lee, 17, will carry Genesis Magma Racing branding on their race suits and on their cars as they compete in FIA Formula 3 and GB3 respectively, as part of a push to “raise awareness of the Genesis brand beyond endurance racing paddocks.”
They will also contribute to Genesis’ aim of “elevating motorsport awareness” in its home country ahead of its debut in the WEC this year with the GMR-001 LMDh.
“One of our targets has always been to raise the profile of motorsport in South Korea,” said Genesis Magma Racing team principal Cyril Abiteboul.
“We want to be the ambassadors of all motorsport for the country and supporting two top Korean talents is a key step, even while they race outside of sportscars, where our main focus is as a team.
“Both Michael and Kyuho clearly have the ambition and talent to build international racing careers, and I am proud that we can support them in their next steps.”
The Genesis Trajectory Program was formed last year and supported Chadwick, Mathys Jaubert and Dani Juncadella to race in the European Le Mans Series with the IDEC Sport team, with Jaubert and Juncadella graduating to WEC race drives for 2026.
Chadwick will continue to race in the ELMS this year aboard IDEC’s No. 18 car alongside her WEC reserve duties, but her co-drivers remain unconfirmed.
Genesis Magma Racing sporting director Gabriele Tarquini stated that the Trajectory Program “will solely focus on driver development” this year after a 2025 season in which focus was also placed on preparing mechanics, engineers and other team staff for WEC.
