Doriane Pin has been ruled out of the 24 Hours of Le Mans after suffering a rib injury, with Rahel Frey replacing her in the Iron Dames LMGT3 lineup.
Pin was supposed to share the No. 85 Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO2 with Michelle Gatting and Sarah Bovy for the 92nd running of the French endurance classic.
However, she confirmed in a statement on social media on Thursday that she was diagnosed with multiple rib fractures after the most recent Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine round at Spa, where she already sat out the second round.
“As you all know, I did not race on Sunday,” Pin said.
“So after some medical checks, we found out that I have some fractured ribs and of course it needs time to heal.
“We had to make a difficult decision with my team to not race in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, but also in Zandvoort [at] FRECA next week.
“It’s very tough and sad, especially for Le Mans. It’s one of the biggest races of the year but also a very special for me.
“I was looking forward to drive there and share that week with all of you and of course my team. But I have to do the best for myself and also the Iron Dames.”
Iron Dames have confirmed that Frey will return to the cockpit of the No. 85 Lamborghini at Le Mans alongside Gatting and Bovy.
Pin’s injury means her WEC campaign is effectively over, as Le Mans was the only other round she was scheduled to take part in after Iron Dames opted to replace her with Frey for the remaining rounds as a result of Pin’s clashing single seater commitments.
