LMGT3 points leader Alex Malykhin has been medically cleared to race in Saturday’s 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps, with Manthey PureRxcing working to repair the car with the use of a replacement chassis.

Malykhin, driving the No. 92 Porsche 911 GT3 R, crashed heavily at Raidillon during the LMGT3 Hyperpole session on Friday afternoon.

The impact inflicted significant rear-end damage to the car, while Malykhin was taken to the on-site medical centre for checks with complaints of pain in his foot.

Manthey confirmed through a statement on social media issued on Friday evening that the Bronze-rated driver has been given the go-ahead to compete in the third round of the FIA World Endurance Championship.

In the same post, the team stated that it is “rebuilding the Manthey PureRxcing car and we are hopeful to enter two cars for the 6 Hours of Spa.”

A team spokesperson confirmed to Sportscar365 that the team has sourced a replacement chassis, which along with various spare parts, is being used with the aim of getting the No. 92 car ready for Saturday’s race.

Manthey’s home base, in the Eifel town of Meuspath near the Nürburgring, is located 90 minutes away from the Spa circuit by car.

Should the car be ready in time, Malykhin, Joel Sturm and Klaus Bachler will start the race from ninth in the LMGT3 class as the No. 92 Porsche had not yet set a lap time at the time of the crash.
