Toyota has closed the gap in the third and final free practice session prior to qualifying for Sunday’s Six Hours of Mexico.

The No. 1 Porsche 919 Hybrid led the way in the 60-minute session, thanks to a 1:25.678 lap time from Nick Tany, which was just 0.111 seconds quicker than the best-placed Toyota TS050 Hybrid in second.

However, the Porsche lost its quick time due to Tandy speeding in pit lane, effectively handing the top time to the No. 8 Toyota.

While the pair of Toyotas showed improved pace, the No. 8 car hit trouble in the session as Anthony Davidson slowed on track and crawled to the pits. The issue came after a trip to the garage.

The No. 37 Jackie Chan DC Racing Oreac 07 Gibson of Alex Brundle topped LMP2, with the No. 71 AF Corse Ferrari 488 GTE and No. 86 Gulf Racing Porsche 911 RSR pacing the production-based ranks.

Qualifying is set to get underway at 5:50 p.m. CT.
