Clemens Schmid will replace Timur Boguslavskiy at Akkodis ASP for this weekend’s FIA World Endurance Championship round at Spa.
Bogulslavskiy has been ruled out of his regular seat in the team’s No. 78 Lexus RC F GT3 for the 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps by illness, having reportedly suffered with a fever.
DTM racer Schmid will therefore make his WEC debut as he takes over the vacant spot next to Ritomo Miyata and Arnold Robin.
The 33-year-old Austrian has a long history of racing GT3 machinery in series such as Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe Powered by AWS, ADAC GT Masters and DTM.
He has been a regular fixture in DTM since 2022, and currently races a McLaren 720S GT3 Evo for the Dorr Motorsport team.
It marks the second driver change for ASP’s No. 78 entry as Miyata was chosen to sub for Kelvin van der Linde, who is away on Berlin Formula E duty.
