Antonio Serravalle has joined Proton Competition’s FIA World Endurance Championship Hypercar squad as a reserve driver for the remainder of the 2024 campaign.
The Canadian racer previously competed as part of Isotta Fraschini’s LMH effort, which disappeared from the grid ahead of this weekend’s Lone Star Le Mans as the Italian manufacturer withdrew from the remainder of the season.
Serravalle has now instead aligned himself with the Christian Ried-led Proton stable and will “serve as a reserve driver, focusing on testing and preparation for the 2025 season, with the potential to step in for any of the remaining 2024 races.”
Proton’s current Hypercar lineup for its No. 99 Porsche 963 consists of Julien Andlauer, Neel Jani and Harry Tincknell.
The team is understood to be pushing towards an expansion of its presence in the WEC top class next season, with Ried previously telling Sportscar365 that it is “absolutely” the aim to field two cars in 2025.
“I would like to thank Proton Competition for this incredible opportunity,” said Serravalle.
“I am also deeply grateful to my brand partners, Marc Wade and Simon Davies at Salt Spirits, as well as the team at Remstar Management for making this possible.”
