United Autosports has added Nico Pino to its driver roster for the upcoming FIA World Endurance Championship season.
Chilean driver Pino joins the previously-announced Marino Sato in the lineup for the No. 95 McLaren 720S GT3 Evo, with the car’s Bronze-rated driver still to be announced.
The 19-year-old Silver-rated driver made his first race outing for United in last month’s Rolex 24 at Daytona in the LMP2 class, having been named as the team’s third driver for the IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup alongside Ben Keating and Ben Hanley.
Pico will also dovetail his United WEC drive with a second LMP2 campaign in the European Le Mans Series with Nielsen Racing. Last year he drove for Duqueine Team in his maiden season in the series’ top class.
“This is another step in my development as a driver, learning from the best,” said Pino. “I hope it will have a big impact in Latin America and Chile.
“This will be my debut in GTs and a challenging year with IMSA, WEC and ELMS but I’m really looking forward to working alongside Marino.”
United co-owner Richard Dean added: “Nico has already proven himself as a strong addition to the United Autosports team in IMSA, so it is great to reveal his name as part of our WEC campaign with McLaren Automotive.
“He is a fast, adaptable driver who has tasted success at the biggest endurance races in the world. I am really looking forward to seeing him take on the LMGT3 challenge.”
The announcement leaves United with two drivers left to reveal across its two-car lineup, one in each the No. 59 and No. 95 cars.
