There will be more firepower at the pointy-end of the 2015 Liqui-Moly Bathurst 12 Hour grid – that’s the promise from the latest entry list released today.
Twenty one outright (Class A – GT3) cars feature amongst a 41-car updated list confirmed today that includes the return of several race favorites and adds some new faces as well.
ENTRY LIST: Bathurst 12 Hour
Thirty four cars were announced on the entry list released in August following the close of ‘early bird’ entries, with today’s list including all current, fully paid-up entries to the 2015 race.
Along with the highly anticipated debut of Bentley’s Continental GT3 in the hands of defending champions Maranello Motorsport, Ferrari squads Vicious Rumour Racing and Clearwater Racing have both committed to a return in 2015.
Clearwater are one of the longest-serving international GT teams to have supported the Bathurst 12 Hour and will return for their fourth visit next year.
The Malaysian-based squad finished third in 2012 and second in 2013 before being one of several cars eliminated within the challenging first third of the race this year.
The team has since tasted plenty of success in the GT Asia championship as well as the Sepang 12-hour race.
Melbourne-based Vicious Rumour Racing had a challenging run in their 12-hour debut this year with the car failing to start after being irreparably damaged following an accident with another car in the very first practice session of the Event.
The team rebuilt the car following the race and has competed successfully in selected local GT races since.
Also adding their Ferrari to the mix will be Trofeo Motorsports, the Australian Pirelli motorsports tyre distributor.
Trofeo has been visible in their support of GT racing this year including the production of a dedicated motorsport TV show and sponsorship of several leading teams and categories, including Australian GT and Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge.
Along with Michelin, Pirelli are one of the two tyre suppliers providing racing rubber for the 12-hour GT field.
The additional entries take to six the number of Ferrari’s entered in the outright class – a race record.
None of the new GT additions have confirmed drivers for their respective cars.
Other additions confirmed today including the Class B Porsche 997 GT3 Cup Car entered by experienced endurance racer Richard Gartner and the long-serving BMW 335i Turbo operated by local team, GWS Motorsport, and owner – driver Peter O’Donnell. Both entrants are long-time supporters of the Liqui-Moly Bathurst 12 Hour.
Another fascinating addition to the Production Car component of the field will be the Subaru BRZ entered by Gary Morgan, the first entrant in Class E (Invitational 3001cc-4000cc)
More entry forms have been received by event organizers and will be announced in due course.
