Andrea Caldarelli is set to make his DTM debut with GRT Grasser Racing in the final two rounds of the season at the Red Bull Ring and Hockenheim.
Team principal Gottfried Grasser confirmed to Sportscar365 that Caldarelli will pilot the No. 19 Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO2 at the final four races, returning the Austrian stable to a two-car operation after it briefly scaled down to a single car at the Sachsenring.
Caldarelli will be the third different teammate to Clemens Schmid this season as Grasser sures up its lineup amidst Lamborghini’s ongoing manufacturers’ title battle with Porsche.
The German brand holds a twelve-point advantage over Lamborghini with four races remaining.
Grasser started the season with the No. 19 car in the hands of Mick Wishofer, but the Austrian driver failed to score a point and was replaced by Maximilian Paul at the Nürburgring.
Paul subsequently took a surprise win in only his second start during a wet Sunday race and returned at the Lausitzring but was unable to continue for the rest of the season due to clashing commitments with International GT Open.
Caldarelli becomes the third Lamborghini factory driver to join the DTM grid this season, with Mirko Bortolotti and Franck Perera both having won races for SSR Performance this year.
