Ricardo Feller triumphed for Land-Motorsport in DTM Race 2 at the Red Bull Ring, delivering the team’s first series victory while ending a personal win drought that dated back to June 2023.
Feller steered his No. 29 Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II past Thierry Vermeulen’s No. 69 Emil Frey Racing Ferrari 296 GT3 on the inside of Turn 10 with 34 minutes remaining in Sunday’s contest before keeping him at bay for the remainder of the race.
The Swiss racer crossed the line 1.748 seconds ahead of the Red Bull-liveried Ferrari to capture his first win since the Sunday race at Zandvoort in 2023, 812 days ago.
It also marked the first win for Audi since Kelvin van der Linde’s Hockenheim Race 1 victory last year, while the Wolfgang Land-led Land-Motorsport stable picked up its maiden triumph in the German sprint series.
Lucas Auer completed the podium in the No. 22 Landgraf Motorsport Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo, recapturing the championship lead as major title rivals Rene Rast and Jack Aitken both suffered setbacks during the race.
Rast, who took over the championship lead after winning Race 1 on Saturday, was in contention for a top-five finish until he was given a pair of late penalty laps, both related to his second of two mandatory pitstops.
The No. 33 Schubert Motorsport BMW M4 GT3 EVO was found to have both carried out an unsafe release as well as crossed the white line at pit entry.
As a result, Rast crossed the line in 13th, picking up just three points.
Aitken, meanwhile, suffered another blow to his title aspirations in the wake of Saturday’s last lap retirement after a puncture on the opening lap condemned him to 20th place.
Auer now leads the standings at 171 points, with Jordan Pepper second on 163 points and Rast third with 160 points. Winward Racing driver Maro Engel holds fourth, five points behind Rast.
Engel finished fourth behind Auer, with Arjun Maini completing the top five in the No. 64 Ford Mustang GT3 ahead of Pepper and Ayhancan Guven.
Jules Gounon came home eighth in the No. 48 Winward Racing Mercedes-AMG. Lamborghini drivers Mirko Bortolotti and Luca Engstler rounded out the top ten.
