Nine-time FIA World Rally champion Sebastien Loeb is testing one of AF Corse’s Ferrari 488 GT3 Evo 2020 DTM cars at Spa-Francorchamps.
According to French publication Endurance-Info, off-road star Loeb is taking part in a two-day test on Tuesday and Wednesday, working with Red Bull AlphaTauri AF Corse as the team prepares for the 2022 DTM season.
It said that the 48-year-old Frenchman, who is a Red Bull athlete, joined full-time drivers Felipe Fraga and Nick Cassidy at Spa where LMP2, LMP3 and GTE cars are also running.
When contacted by Sportscar365, a spokesperson for Red Bull AlphaTauri AF Corse declined to comment on whether Loeb was present.
AF Corse has an available seat for the Portimao and Norisring DTM rounds because Cassidy will be unavailable due to ABB FIA Formula E World Championship clashes.
Loeb’s last sports car appearance occurred in 2019 when he contested the FFSA French GT Championship season finale driving for his eponymous race team.
He continues to compete in off-road events, recently finishing second in the 2021 Extreme E season and the 2022 Dakar Rally, and winning the Monte Carlo Rally for his 80th WRC victory after a dramatic battle with eight-time champion Sebastien Ogier.
