WRT will enter a pair of Audi R8 LMS GT3s in November’s FIA GT World Cup at Macau, the Belgian team revealed on Wednesday.
It will run the cars under the Team WRT Speedstar banner with a pair of currently unconfirmed drivers who will be announced by Audi Sport at a later date.
WRT has entered the event since 2015 and won in 2016 with Laurens Vanthoor. Rene Rast and Robin Frijns have also scored podiums for the team at the event.
Audi Sport Team Rutronik will also take part in the Nov. 17-18 event, in an expected three-car factory supported effort from the German manufacturer.
Audi Sport customer racing boss Chris Reinke recently pledged Audi’s commitment to the race despite controversy after two major crashes in the past two years.
“When it comes to sprint GT racing, it’s the place to be, with the heritage through the Formula 3 and so on,” he told Sportscar365 earlier this month.
“I’m fully behind the venue [even if] the last two years it’s been cost-intensive for us.”
