Lamborghini has expanded its GT3 Junior program for this year, confirming Thursday a lineup of 23 young drivers that are set to represent the Italian manufacturer in sports car championships around the world.
The drivers, selected by Squadra Corse, will be tasked with carrying out number of activities on and off the track, including becoming drivers/instructors at the Lamborghini Accademia, input on the technical development of the Lamborghini Huracan GT3, test sessions with Squdra Corse and Pirelli, as well as fitness tests.
Veteran Italian driver Raffaele Giammaria, meanwhile, has been appointed as a supervisor for both the GT3 Junior Program and Young Drivers Program.
“During 2016, Lamborghini took part in GT3 championships with customer teams for the first time,” said Head of Lamborghini Motorsport Giorgio Sanna, “winning two international championship titles with Amici, Liberati and Crestani, Super Trofeo drivers and members of the GT3 Junior Program, demonstrates that the young driver program works and provides mutual opportunities both for drivers and our company.
“Besides sporting results, it should be emphasized how these young drivers have rapidly become valid ambassadors of our brand and part of the Lamborghini Accademia, thanks to the training program organized by the Lamborghini Squadra Corse staff.”
